Digital Footprints . . .
In our culture today we thrive on the connections that we are capable of creating and maintaining. What connections? you say! Facebook friends, Linkedin network affiliates, and MySpace profiles. In these virtual social realms we all have our own communities that we are apart of, and continue to build.
Facebook, Linkedin, MySpace and Twitter just to name a few, are great ways to keep in touch with others who may be far away or even local. We are all so busy and may not get to talk. However, we do want to know what is happening with one another, and share with others what we are doing.
Have you ever considered, that in all of the texting, posting, seeking, connecting and sharing that you do daily, that you are creating something that is bigger than you thought? Are you still thinking within that old paradigm, "outta sight, outta mind"? Do you think that while you walk through your online life, once you have logged off, that you leave no trace that you were there?
Have you ever Googled your name? Have you ever researched someone that you have just met? Do you use the internet to research facts about a company that you maybe interested in working for? If so, What makes you think that the inverse has not been done to you?
Ok, ok, these are redundant questions, to which you do not have to answer to me . . but, do you have an answer to these questions for yourself? My whole point is this, if you participate online in any of the social networking forums, YOU, have a digital footprint. So take good care of your feet, so that your footprint will leave a trail that you want others to see, and that you would'nt mind if others followed. digital footprint and a digital image.
